Bugs used to be used by spies; planted in a lampshade or under a phone and used to listen to conversations. Things have changed a lot... now it's not big government who is spying, but big companies who want to know what you are doing so they can sell you more things.

Web bugs are small programs or instructions that are given to your computer when you visit a web page. Since they are silent and hidden very few people know they even exist. Just like the bugs spies used, these web bugs are designed to let a company know something about you: the page you are looking at, the sites you like to visit, or even the buttons you press and how you move your mouse!

Not all web bugs are the same, and not all of them are bad for you. For example, Google Analytics helps website owners know more about how you use their website so they can make the website better.

Listed below are some of the web bugs Ad Hacker has learned about.
